Winner: Stephen Colbert of "The Colbert Report"
Why: Because he came up with the idea of a bunker for a post-apocalyptic bunker. That's just funny stuff. Colbert also brought in famous Rolling Stones reporter what's-his-name for his McChrystal article. It wasn't the most shining example of Colbert's work, but once he got to his interview with filmmaker John Waters, that's when things took off. Waters gave the best interview for a winner we've seen yet and his claim that it would be better for your kid to be a drug dealer than a drug user was spot on.
Loser: Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"
Why: It was a short episode, with the majority devoted to Obama political advisor David Axelrod. It was an interesting interview, but not enough to trump Colbert and Waters. Though Stewart was given another opportunity to mock John Oliver and English soccer, so that was welcome. Not the craziest day the Stewart or Colbert has had, but it was solid enough.
