Why: The very idea of a Carell Corral made this an instant win, and the intro to this supposed show was Carell at his finest. Once he finishes his work on The Office, this is his next gig. Yeah, Stephen was great too, but it was really the interview between Carell and Colbert that sealed the deal.

Winner: Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"
Why: Lewis Black showed up, which is always pleasant, and Julianne Moore was a fun guest, with her and Jon talking mostly about LeBron James. It wasn't mind-blowing, but it was a good episode. Also, it was awhile ago, so that could be the reason for the short post.

Winner: Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"
Why: Well, Colbert almost had it, but that might have been my sympathy and pure admiration of his working sick. But Stewart had a great time with Michael Steele, who, as a puppet, is the perfect match. It was humorous when everything Steele does should make you blanch.
Loser: Stephen Colbert of "The Colbert Report"
Why: Because you were sick and showed sickness. It's disgusting... no, I wrote enough above about the sickness, but there were some good interviews used and the interview was actually interesting, but this is from someone who is intrigued by basic, entry-level theoretical physics. And to do a show when ill, forcing you to sit in a chair the whole episode must have been hard (wait, he always sits in a chair).

Winner: Stephen Colbert of "The Colbert Report"
Why: He just had more content today. The threat down featuring Dawn soap was a clever bit of comedy writing and scary truth, so there is that. But shockingly, and this is some big news, I think it was his interview with New York City farmer Manny Howard that took the cake. His story about fighting a rabbit off with a dust pan was some stunningly hilarious, and sad, stuff.

Why: As mentioned above, Colbert just had more material. But Stewart had some shining moments, though I'm not sure about the inclusion of Olivia Munn as a correspondant. We will have to see if she can stay the course and make it all work when there are some many new, and obviously old, correspondants.

Winner: Stephen Colbert of "The Colbert Report"
Why: He tried out for the Knicks, mocked Kim Jong-il, and reported, in the most epic style possible, about the disappearance of King Tuts penis. It was a fantastic day for Colbert, who kicked his usual charm up a notch, which can usually ensure a win. So here it is, Colbert. Enjoy it.
Loser: Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"
Why: It was focused entirely on soccer and the World Cup, which, if it had more of John Oliver screaming at Stewart, would have been excellent. But it didn't, and the interview with U.S. team coach and a player, was boring. Not Stewarts fault, but it was still dull.

Winner: Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"
Why: Because he is a master at tearing Fox News new holes (say that last part five time fast). Jon didn't hold back as he assaulted them, mocking their ridiculous "news" reporting and even more ridiculous reporters. Fox And Friends received the majority of the attack, which was well-suited, as they were blaming the Obama administration for blaming the Bush administration, when they did the same to Clinton for his administration well into Bush's second term. Well done, Stewart, well done.

Winner: Stephen Colbert of "The Colbert Report"
Why: Because he came up with the idea of a bunker for a post-apocalyptic bunker. That's just funny stuff. Colbert also brought in famous Rolling Stones reporter what's-his-name for his McChrystal article. It wasn't the most shining example of Colbert's work, but once he got to his interview with filmmaker John Waters, that's when things took off. Waters gave the best interview for a winner we've seen yet and his claim that it would be better for your kid to be a drug dealer than a drug user was spot on.

Winner: Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"
Why: Continuing coverage of the World Cup by correspondant John Oliver was hilarious, as he took a look at the retailers and sponsors of the African event: Coca-Cola, McDonalds, and Shakira. It was a great piece about the business side of this world event... yeah, some serious discussion and substance may be found here (not that this is, by any means). Jon also brought Fox and Friends over to camera 3, where he mocked them for blaming the robot for ruining the cap placed on the oil leak, as if it were some sentient, intelligent being. When will they learn over at Fox?
Loser: Stephen Colbert of "The Colbert Report"
Why: It was close once again, but the master outdid the student. Colbert had his third and final segment of the fallback position piece, but it wasn't enough to finish off Stewart. His "Word" bit could have been a bit funnier, but this competition is between two powerhouses of comedy, so it will never be an easy win for either man. But, as the trend slowly reveals itself, the better interview belonged to Colbert, who got to mock science in his close-minded, religious way, which was better than Stewart's interview with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock.

Winner: Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"
Why: Jon was on fire tonight, staying consistent throughout and giving a hell of a performance. With correspondent John Oliver, the back and forth between them about the World Cup was intense and fueled with rage, ending with a back and forth of loud bleeping noises. And while I expected more from the "angry black man" piece with Larry Wilmore, once it reached the Samuel L. Jackson Scale of Black Emotion, the win was cemented. Because Obama should float right around the Snakes on a Plane level of anger for the McChrystal situation, as snakes most assuredly do not belong on planes.
Loser: Stephen Colbert of "The Colbert Report"
Why: The streak had to end eventually, and with such quality outings from the last two days, the stakes were high. That's not to say the episode was particularly lacking, but Stewart just trumped Colbert this round. Colbert (and this seems to be a trend... one which I've noticed in my grand total of three days doing this) had a better interview, with the creator of Pandora proving much more interesting, solidly beating out Stewart's White House doctor one. Colbert may shine with his next installment of his fallback position segment for Thursday, but we will have to see.

Winner: Stephen Colbert of "The Colbert Report"
Why: As stated in the post yesterday, the astronaut piece was a multiple-parter, which gave it the slight upper hand. The second installment was as solid, and we got to watch Stephen act his most Colberiest while training with other astronauts. And to sweeten the deal, his piece on Rand Paul was spot on, which led to a gag with frightened cat Mr. Wiggles, who performs eye surgery for board certified opthamologist Stephen Colbert, who became board certified today only after creating the board itself. The cat was well-trained, but the audience was testing its will to follow commands.
Loser: Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"
Why: It was almost all locked in, with Jon nailing a couple of pieces, especially on the McChrystal debacle that is currently on everyone's mind (screw you, Gulf Coast). And he even managed to make the Cameron Diaz interview interesting, because he did most of the talking and remained funny even when the interview threatened to bore. Why:
Colbert is a master interviewer, and his time grilling Commander Steven Lindsey on sex in space and discussing why being an astronaut is a great fallback position was beautifully done. While the initial segment at the Jonson Space Center was enough to see it through to a victory, the additional material on the World Cup didn't hurt it. Also, NASA must invest in space-sex research, which could spawn the next great space race, only this time with, well, sex.

You seemed to have stumbled across Colbert vs. Stewart: Deathmatch, where fake news anchor Jon Stewart faces off against fake news anchor Stephen Colbert every night for 4 nights a week and 24 hours a day for 30 minutes each day. While the two may not be in direct competition with each other, Colbert's disdain for Stewart is obvious, as is Stewarts jealousy of his former correspondant stealing all the spotlight.
